Inspection and Testing

Here at Omega Electrical we are experts in electrical testing in both domestic and commercial property - to ensure that the fixed wiring is in good working and safe order. With the introduction of Part P in 2005 and the 17th edition in 2008, homes and workplaces have been increasingly governed by a range of complex legislation, regulations and recommendations. Their purpose is to protect your family, workforce and the general public.

Current Statutory Health and Safety documentation and British Standards recommend that a home should be tested every 10 years and a business property every 5 years. These tests are called Periodic Inspection Reports and they scrutinise the safety and well-being of your whole electrical installation, safeguarding you from any potential shocks or fires.

Electrical faults are potentially lethal and need to be dealt with immediately. If you suspect you may have an electrical fault at home or at work call us now on 0800 085 5528 and we’ll get an electrician out to you as soon as possible anywhere in the London and Surrey area.

Periodic Inspection Reports will identify:

  • any overloads in the electrical circuits/ equipment
  • potential fire hazards/ electric shock risks
  • defective electrical work
  • any lack of earthing/ bonding conductors
  • deterioration of concealed wiring
  • the condition of the wiring system, and associated fixed electrical equipment
  • the use of residual current devices (RCD)
  • any identification and notices that are not in place
  • any changes to the premises which could impact on the electrical system

Attempting to repair electrical goods without an adequate electrician’s qualification is both dangerous and illegal in the UK. Done incorrectly, even the simplest wiring jobs – such as wiring a plug or changing a light switch – can have devastating consequences if done incorrectly. Always call a professional electrician in these situations.
